Who We Are

Gendered Intelligence has a background in teaching in schools, colleges and Universities, as well as working with young people in non-statutory settings.
We are also active members of our community engaging in trans activism, academia and the arts.

Jay Stewart

Jay is a co-founder of Gendered Intelligence and delivers the professional development trans training programme. Jay was the documentary maker for the Sci:dentity Project (March 2006-March 2007) and film making facilitator during the Creative Arts Workshops as well as co-facilitating the Sci:dentity outreach workshops.

Jay facilitates film making projects to community groups as well as tutoring and lecturing on various undergraduate and postgraduate units. He has made several documentaries for organisations such as Creative Partnerships, GoSkills - The Sector Skills Council for Passenger Transport and the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Training (CETT) at Central School of Speech and Drama. These documentaries look to capture projects, learning outcomes and personal journeys as well as offer tools for evaluation and deep reflection upon findings.

Jay is an active member of the trans community having chaired FTM London, a support group for transmen, from October 2004 to March 2007. He currently sits on various committees and working groups, such as Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Advisory Group and The Trans@Pride sub-committee.

Catherine McNamara

Catherine McNamara is co-founder of Gendered Intelligence. She is also Deputy Dean of Studies at Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London where she oversees the work of the undergraduate and postgradaute courses. Up until October 2007, she ran the MA Applied Theatre (Drama in the Community & Drama Education) at Central and has also taught on the PGCE Drama and the BA Drama, Applied Theatre and Education courses. Catherine is a qualified teacher and used to teach Performing Arts in a Further Education College.

Catherine was the Project Co-ordinator for the Sci:dentity Project (March 2006-March 2007) and facilitated during the Creative Arts Workshops which resulted in a public exhibition. She also facilitated a series of Sci:dentity outreach workshops on gender within a range of settings in schools and LGBT Youth Groups. She is currently planning a Queer Youth Project for May 2008 which will bring a group of LGBT young people together to write a play for performance in secondary schools.

Fionn Greig

Fionn is involved with the trans community and various LGBT communities both as a volunteer and employee. He is currently an active member of the London LGBT Youth Council. He works with Schools Out and LGBT History Month, as well as being a member of FTM London. He has recently started a position with Hackney Council as an LGBT Youth Worker and facilitates trans training for Gendered Intelligence.
