Gendered Intelligence is committed to identifying the issues and meeting the needs of parents and family members of young trans people from across the UK.

In conjunction with the LGBT Consortium, Gendered Intelligence has produced a booklet aimed at parents and families of young trans people. We hope that this might offer parents and family members some information about what it means to be trans, how it might feel as a parent or family member of a young trans person and most importantly a bit of advice with regards to going forward from here.

This booklet was compiled through a series of focus groups with parents and family members of young trans people themselves.

We recognise that most local parent services will know very little about what it means to be trans and so parents of young trans people accessing those services might wish to gain information. Because of this we have produced two resources:

We also hold ad-hoc meetings for parents and family members of young trans people, as well as run family days or open sessions where young trans people can invite their friends and family members.
